The Storyboard Project is a documentary series about foster youth aging out of the system. The series aims to show former foster youth in different stages of their lives, whether it be weeks out of the system or years later. A common ground these youth share is: the struggle they overcame being abandoned in childhood; how their resilience in young adulthood made them the people they are today; and who helped mentor or guide them along the way.
Our mission is to give a voice to emancipated foster youth as they transition into adulthood and create a new narrative for this marginalized group.
Our vision is to create a community where young adults who are navigating the transition to adulthood — without the extra support of a parent or guardian — can introduce themselves to the world. Former foster youth can tell their story; whether through a video, poem, drawing, photo, music, dance, blog or the written word.
In turn, the community will offer video advice modules on everything from navigating through college admission forms to where you can go for resume help. We will also provide links to resources available throughout the nation.
The Storyboard Project is designed to inspire action.
